During Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, there was a veritable information storm all things Guild Wars 2. The playable demo consisted of two areas basically, the starter area with the player creation (the customization was disabled in this demo)

Back in the US 150 emplyees helped out by filling out these areas.
For the first time players could see for themselves if the bold statements from A-net were true.
Also, instead of revealing the next class, The Necromancer, on their homepage as usual they had included it in the demo . It was later added to the homepage with additional information and videos.

Alien Swarm is a game and Source SDK release from a group of talented designers at Valve who were hired from the Mod community. Available free of charge, the game thrusts players into an epic bug hunt featuring a unique blend of co-op play and squad-level tactics. With your friends, form a squad of four distinct IAF Marine classes.

The game will be available for free on Steam starting Monday 19 July 2010.

The ranger is a jack-of-all-trades and a master of them all as well, relying on his keen eye, steady hand, or the power of nature itself. A master of ranged combat, the ranger is capable of striking unwitting foes from a distance with his bow.

A ranger is accompanied by his pet, a loyal animal companion. Rangers charm pets and then bond with them. A ranger can have up to three pets at his call, but generally speaking, only one pet can be active at any time. Pets' base health, armor, and damage are based on the level of the player that owns them.

Pets are charmed by interacting with juvenile versions of the species you want to charm. There are a variety of Tyrian species that can be charmed, including bears, moas, devourers, and sharks. As you adventure with a pet, it evolves to become more unique and eventually allows you to give it abilities that compliment your tactics.

Jon Peters, one of the game designers explains how Healing and Death will work in Guild wars 2.

Rather than being presented with immediate failure, when a player loses all of their health in Guild Wars 2, they are put into "downed mode." In this mode, the player has a number of downed skills they can use to target enemies and fight for a chance to survive. A downed player can still be attacked, which will send them into a defeated state, leaving them to either wait for an ally to resurrect them or to resurrect at a waypoint.
